A Schenectady man has been convicted of murder and multiple weapons charges in the 2023 execution-style killing of a city resident.
Jeffrey Bashaw, 56, was found guilty of second-degree murder and related charges by a Schenectady County jury on Wednesday, Aug. 20, in the death of Leroy Chisom.
Bashaw and co-defendant Kevin Dingle lured the 41-year-old Chisom from his bedroom on State Street in Schenectady on Oct. 22, 2023, prosecutors said. The two men, wearing masks, gloves, and dark clothing, shot Chisom at least five times each before fleeing in under a minute.

Ponytailed Burglar Scared Off From Bayville Home, Police Say
A Long Island woman’s home security system may have stopped a burglary in progress after she spotted a stranger trying to break in.
The 36-year-old Bayville homeowner was at her Creek Ridge Road residence at around 9:20 p.m. Monday, July 28, when she saw a man attempting to force his way into her home on her surveillance cameras, according to Nassau County Police. She immediately called 911.
Before officers arrived, the suspect fled the scene.
On Wednesday, July 30, police announced that officers had arrested Kevin Lindstrom, 57, of Bayville, in connection with the incident.

A Maryland man is behind bars after allegedly firing multiple shots at another person during a heated overnight argument, police said.
Officers with the Hagerstown Police Department responded to the 200 block of W. Franklin Street around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 27, for a report of shots fired.
“Within minutes, officers were able to identify the suspect from city surveillance cameras, locate him and place him under arrest,” HPD said in a statement.

A Kearny gym owner was arrested after allegedly beating a store employee with a handgun during a violent robbery, then fleeing to a nearby gym, police said.
The incident happened on Friday, June 6, at 3 p.m. on Schuyler Avenue, after Edsel M. Brown, 35, of Kearny, was confronted by an employee at Seabra Foods for stealing merchandise, Kearny police said. Brown then pulled out a black handgun and beat an employee with it," police said.

Three men were formally charged with murder in connection with the broad-daylight kidnapping and beating death of a Long Island man.
Gustavo Hernandez, age 38, and his nephews, Walter Ramirez Jeronimo, age 19, and Wilson Ramirez Jeronimo, age 18, all of Farmingdale, were indicted for murder and kidnapping in Suffolk County Court on Friday, Aug. 2.
